Figurative sculptures in AAC (autoclave aerated concrete), recycled materials and low relief carvings in PVC. AAC is a building construction material that is easily carvable that readily accepts encaustic. A stack of old magazines, books or manuals are not trash, they are a raw material. The same is true for scraps of expanded pvc, it carves well with palm gouges. I always enjoy testing out the possibilities for alternate uses for materials that I come across.
The human form lends itself well to stories of who we are, how we define our past and what we can imagine being.
I am often serious in my search for artistic expression, but in the area of sculpture I find a release in allowing a bit of humor to come through. We all need a good chuckle once in a while.
